The manual transmission is basically bulletproof. The 7th was bad enough to warrant a full redesign with the 8th, but the 9th was a mild (and backwards) refresh of the 8th. Everything seemed fine until consumer reports’ annual reliability survey dropped last week, and the automotive world was shocked to see the mighty civic as the only honda left off the list.
